About Texas Longhorns

The origin

Texas Longhorns have their origins in Europe, although their name might suggest otherwise. They were imported to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in the 15th century, where at first they were left feral and to their own devices. During that time the animals adapted to the wild nature of Texas, Arizona and California.

Due to these circumstances, only the healthiest, most robust, intelligent, and strongest animals of their breed survived - which makes the Texas Longhorn a very special type of cow even still today.

The characteristic skin pigmentation and long horns also stem from having to prevent damage from the sun and wild animals.
